15 · Section Handover

Close it out — section by section.

Hand over a building, a floor or a system on its own timeline: clear the snags, capture the sign-offs, attach the documentation and record the date that starts the defects liability clock.

Sectional completion, properly tracked

Partial handover, complete records.

Each section carries its own snag list, approvals and evidence — so handing over early never means handing over undocumented.

The close-out path

From last snag to defects liability.

The handover is the moment the contractual clock changes — so BuildOrch records it precisely.

Snags clearedEvery open snag against the section must be closed with evidence. A blocker holds the handover shut — it cannot start while one is outstanding.
InspectionThe final inspection for the section runs its checklist, with hold points formally cleared and witness attendance recorded against the item.
ApproveTaking-Over goes through the approval rule for its value. Approving it freezes the pre-handover content as certified — the DLP tab stays live.
Certificate issuedThe certificate issues on your letterhead, the defects liability clock starts on the certified date, and the asset change-set goes to the ERP.
In the product

The certificate that ends the job.

Branded, approved and tied to the section it covers — issued on your Legal Entity’s letterhead with its address, registration and TRN already on it.

It names the project, the section and the certified date, carries the DRAFT mark until the approval is complete, and lists the works being taken over. That date is the one the defects liability period is counted from.

  • Your identity, not oursLogo, address, registration and TRN come from the Legal Entity record.
  • Draft until approvedThe watermark clears only when the approval completes, so a draft can never be mistaken for a certificate.
